Benefit of yellow fruit and vegetable for cataracts and eye health - Cataract is an eye disorder. The cause of this particular attack was part of the eye lens is clear, becomes cloudy. This causes the refraction of light entering the lens of the eye, causing vision problems.

A cataract is a clouding of the lens in the eye. It affects our vision. Cataracts are very common in older people. By age 80, more than half of all people in the United States either have a cataract or have had cataract surgery. Common symptoms of cataract are Frequent prescription changes in your eye wear, blurry vision, colors that seem faded, glare and not being able to see well at night. Sometimes cataract is also causes double vision.

A couple of factors are thought to cause cataracts include aging, exposure to ultraviolet light in the long term, the use of certain drugs, to diseases such as diabetes. The other factors such as smoking can worsen cataracts.

Cataracts usually develop slowly. New glasses, brighter lighting, anti-glare sunglasses or magnifying lenses can help at first. Surgery is also an option. It involves removing the cloudy lens and replacing it with an artificial lens. Wearing sunglasses and a hat with a brim to block ultraviolet sunlight may help to delay cataracts.

There are several steps to prevent cataract that can be done everyday, that is to take supplements and vitamin C every day, eat fruits and vegetables rich in content carotenoid (contained in many yellow vegetables and fruits), and smoking cessation.

Carotenoid is an antioxidant that has the ability to repair damaged cells in the eye. This substance can be known from yellow, orange and red color of fruits and vegetables. So the tomato, mango, papaya, pumpkin, sweet potato and carrots are vegetables and fruits that contain lots of good carotenoids for consumption.

Besides yellow vegetables and fruits are also rich in vitamin C, and folate are useful to inhibit the clotting proteins in the lens of the eye that lead to the decreased vision lens.

In addition to the consumption of vegetables and fruits, do not forget to keep exposure to direct sunlight on the eye. The use of sunglasses may help filter out ultraviolet light that enters the lens when the weather is very sunny, and do not forget to leave the smoking habit.
